Otsego Land Trust and the Cooperstown Art Association invite artists and aspiring artists to the second annual Plein Air Painting Weekend, July 15-16, at the Brookwood Point Conservation Area, two miles north of Cooperstown. Paint the Point offers artists a special opportunity to capture the diverse landscape of beautiful and historic Brookwood Point while enjoying the company of other like-minded artists. This event is made possible by Otsgeo Land Trust, the Otsego County Board of Representatives Community Events Grant funding, and Golden Paints.

The weekend will offer inspiration, enjoyment, and learning, with optional painting demonstrations by professional artist Lisbeth Firmin. Otsego Land Trust will provide continental breakfast and box lunches for the artists on both days. There will be a main tent and smaller pop-up tents on site for relief from the hot sun or inclement weather.

Members of the public will be able to visit Brookwood Point during the plein-air event and observe art in the making. Registered artists will have the opportunity to exhibit and sell works created during the event in the gallery of the Cooperstown Art Association from August 18 to September 22.

Brookwood Point is a 22-acre conservation area on the west shore of Otsego Lake, owned and maintained for public enjoyment by Otsego Land Trust. The property includes formal gardens, wetland trails, and lake access for canoes and kayaks.

Otsego Land Trust is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving natural resources throughout the Upper Susquehanna watershed. Brookwood Point is one of six sites open for low-impact recreation including hiking, birding, and exploration.
